English info
In August 2011, a group of leading social entrepreneurs traveled to Uganda. Our aim was to meet with NGOs, businesses and inspiring individuals committed to making a difference. In a number of brainstorms, co-creation sessions and open spaces we saught to share and learn, to inspire and be inspired. Welcome to Creative Minds Uganda.
Birth
Creative Minds was born in the minds of Sanne Roemen and Michel Groenenstijn. The former is a leading Dutch expert on civil society and social media who visited Uganda in early 2010. The latter is the founder of Be More, an organization that supports African NGOs with volunteers and fair tourism, including several in Uganda.
Sanne and Michel work with many inspiring creative people in the Netherlands and are awed by Uganda’s enormous power and potential. They imagined combining the two and take the most creative entrepreneurs they know on a trip to visit Uganda’s change makers. That’s the seed of the project: Creative Minds Uganda.
The idea
Creative Minds is an ongoing experiment to find out what happens if you bring together creative minds from different cultures, backgrounds and experience. We aim to support inspiring initiatives with our knowledge and skills, and we hope to learn and to bring lessons back from Uganda to share with others.
We focus on entrepreneurship, social businesses, NGOs making a difference, new technology and creativity. We work together in open spaces where the agenda is set by the participants, focusing on whatever issues arise, in brainstorms, dialogue, workshops and in training.
